TEXTures, My New Stencils!

Aloha everyone, Jill K. Berry here. I have missed all of you, and being here with you! I have a gift idea for you.

While away I have been busy, and one of the things I have been doing is designing stencils for Artistcellar, who has been a sponsor here for quite a while. Their stencils are both beautifully made and designed,  and I am excited to be the first of their "Artist Signature Series."

My stencil set is called "TEXTures". There are four stencils, all made from my calligraphy, which is pretty much letters telling a story that might not be legible. They are meant to add text and texture to your pages or projects that might need some storytelling.

The four styles are Runes, Roadmap, Rivermap and Romans. Each one is based on my abstracted calligraphic works that you can see on my website.

Runes are playful symbols that I invented, that can represent anything you like.

Roadmap is text of a trip I took through the desert, at night.

Romans is bit of poetry in the style I use in my journals, which is Roman letters using a flat brush.

Rivermap is a fluid map of the rivers near my house, done in a flowing style that reminds me of the

Now here is the funny part. I have never, until now, been a stencil user. I had to get really creative to find ways to use these designs. I started where I always start, in my journal. On this page I drew with watercolor crayons, then set down the Roadmap stencil and wiped it off with a baby wipe. Love those baby wipes!

Then I played with all four stencils on one of my map grid pages.

On this page I added the stencils on a page that I drew inside San Francisco de Asis church in Taos.

Then I stenciled some napkins.

Lastly, I stenciled some small canvases, then painted them with Luminarte Paints, specifically Silks, since I am also going to be teaching for them online in 2013.

This post is a part of a two week blog hop, you have 12 chances to win a set of these stencils.
Give them as a gift to someone you love, or gift them to yourself!

You can leave a comment here, and then check out the projects that all these talented folks have done with these stencils. Leave a comment on their posts too, for more chances to win! I will pick a winner from here on December 14th.

  17. wow, these are creative and gorgeous! Funny, I totally understand your "I don't use stencils" because neither do I but I can see a ton of use I'd get from these as backgrounds just like you've used them. Thanks for the opportunity to win these, I think they're going to be hugely popular, good background stamps and stencils are hard to find. :o)
