digital garden sketches

Sue B here doing a little digital garden doodling on my Ipad with my favorite drawing app - Paper by 53  ...

Are there any fellow digital doodlers out there?  What are your favorite drawing apps for the Ipad?

  1. Nice! My son has an iPad and I should try it, his children do a great job on it. I just got a Kindle Fire and it's my present learning adventure, and it too has great stuff on it. The internet is better than my laptop, that always fades in and fades out!

  2. I resisted digital sketching for a long time, but once I started playing around with Paper by 53, I was amazed at how fun and easy it is to use. It's definitely worth it to 'splurge' and get all of the tools. I love the watercolor 'brush.'

    1. I wasn't a fan of digital sketching either Debbie until I found the paper app and splurged for all the bells and whistles. My favorite "brush" is the calligraphy ink pen and I use the watercolor brush a lot too.

  6. I LOVE Paper by 53, and you've totally inspired me. I'm going to doodle with that app! I also have Sketchbook Pro, ArtRage, and Brushes. I'm not as adept with those apps yet, but this challenge gives me some inspiration for working with them more. Thanks for the great idea!

  8. I use Paper 53, DrawCast, and Sumo Paint apps. I like them all for different reasons but prefer Sumo.fm on the internet for most of my doodling.

  9. I love Paper 53 too - I tend to be quite a detail person and I find using the chunky stylus is quite a good discipline for encouraging me not to be so tight in my drawing. I haven't blogged one of my creations yet so maybe I'll do that.
I have another art package on the ipad called 'Art Set' - it was totally free and has an amazing range of colours and pens/pencils as well as a variety of papers to mimic real ones. It has acrylic paint rather than watercolour though and I have to admit I haven't quite got into it as much as Paper 53 but it's worth a go to dip your toe into the digital art world.

  10. I'm a digital doodler, but I don't have an iPad. I doodle in CS4 and Painter 11 here on my computer. :)

    I love your flower doodles!

    Have a great day!

  11. After trying almost all of them I do believe my favorite is ArtRage...and iDraw following close behind because it has different functionality that I need at times. I have been posting some of my doodles in a Pinterest board showing some of my test doodles using different packages here: http://pinterest.com/nancybabb/ipad-doodling/

  14. I enjoy messing around with doodling and sketching on my ipad. My favorite apps are Paper by 53, SketchTime, Adobe Ideas, and most recently Tayasui Sketches! Tayasui Sketches is VERY similar to Paper and far as ease of use, simplicity, and clean user interface... But it provides more controll over opacity and tools size. I like to use it with the Sensu Brush. It feels great!
